Update: Cycle Toronto has indicated in their May 2nd newsletter “Ring & Post” that the ASE pilot was deemed “non-essential” in the wake of COVID-19, and was thereby “temporarily shelved.” We will provide updates as they become available
MPP Jessica Bell has advised that Ministry of Transportation has finally developed new regulations allowing cities to use automated speed enforcement cameras to ticket speeders in community safety zones. Toronto is installing 50 ASE cameras across the city (two per ward), which will be fully operational once the 90-day notice period required by MTO has passed.
The initial locations of the ASE cameras have been posted, and the cameras will be relocated every 3 months. The attached map shows the locations of the downtown cameras.
