College Street is the beating heart of Little Italy. Home to successive waves of immigrants, it has served as the commercial and cultural centre of our neighbourhood for well over a century.
As Toronto grows, College Street will continue to change and adapt to the needs of its residents. PARA’s response to these upcoming changes is the College Street Task Group, which seeks to take the best of our neighbourhood and build upon it. Our goal is to engage with sensitive growth and development to meet ever-increasing residential and commercial needs, while celebrating the heritage of our community.
College Street West Avenue Study
In June of 2018, Councillors Mike Layton and Ana Bailão requested that the City undertake a College Street West Avenue Study. Conducting an Avenue Study mandates that the city seek input from the community, as well as transportation, planning and other city divisions, as it crafts a growth and development plan. This study would cover the western portion of College Street from Bathurst to Lansdowne. Details of the request can be viewed here.
Additional information will be posted in the coming months as we receive further updates from City Planning and Heritage Preservation Services.
